♥ Happy Valentine's Day ♥

You make my heart sing

Mat,

Happy Valentine's Day!

so long lives your love which gives life to me"

Fully mature yet unripened

Those of you that know me well will know that I don't act my age. I never have. I have either acted older when I was younger or acted younger now that I'm older. Whatever being older or younger is.

Through experience, getting older supposedly makes you wiser. I also find that you can add cynicism and bitterness with this 'maturity'. Not necessarily in a bad way, more of a tired been there, seen it, done that type of exasperation.  Especially when bright young things are being annoyingly smug about something or other and not listening to anything you say. I'm sure I was exactly the same then though!

However, there is always time for being unashamedly, rip-roaringly, head-spinningly childish. Defined as 'of like, or appropriate to a child' or 'silly and immature', why should kids have all the fun? Given that they already have the energy & the fresh collagen, it would be rude not to have a piece of the action and so when I can, I do!

And so, the weekend just gone saw Mat and I back in Essex to help Aiden and Liddy celebrate their 10th birthdays. As their godmother and having held them in my arms back in the day, I was proud to be there to see in this milestone age.

Their 'party' was at a pretty cool venue - Basildon Sporting Village. Yes, I know what you are thinking - QUE?!? Basildon? Sporting? Village? But oh yes, after an injection of millions of pounds this is where some of London Olympics 2012 participants can train to their hearts content in preparation for the Games proper. A good way of bringing the Olympics out to the people and for the area to benefit from the amazing facilities.

And the best bit...you can hire the Gym for a birthday party for a couple of hours. ALL OF IT!  Awesome!

All of the equipment such as the balance beam, pommel horse, rings, vault, trampoline, foam pool and sprung floor were all ours to look ridiculous on! Hilarious! I especially loved the sprung floor as I was able to run around on it without having any undue stress on my joints, specifically my back. Absolutely bloody brilliant! If only the whole world had a sprung floor  - just think how much better I would be?!

Anyway, below are some photos from the day. As you can see, you're never too old to be young.

Oh and as an aside, Tower Bridge finally got built by Amy over Christmas. Suitable for anyone aged 8 years old and over, it only took two and a half adults, just over a year, two degrees and a Phd, much swearing, a couple of re-builds and up till 1am by Amy for her to finally build it.

I was amazed and very pleased that it finally got finished! It was part of my 'recuperation set' from the cancer treatment just over a year ago but I didn't have the patience then! I still can't believe it's classed as suitable for those aged 8+.  Look at how complicated it is?!

Maybe I'm just getting old ;-)

Stuck

Furry, soft round the edges & prone to snuffling noises...
sounds a bit like me?! Watch this, it will make you smile ALL DAY!!

I have what can only be described as 'blogger's block'. It's all there but stuck. I am unable to find the sentences and when I do, we are looking at only 140 characters being used up, if that.  *waves at Twitter*

I'm letting it ride in the hope that like all good blockages, it will come undone and the tidal wave of creativity will flow out. I'm hoping this feeling won't last too long and that I will come unstuck from the treacle. Otherwise medical intervention may be needed.

Anyway, since my 'Blueberries' post, I have had great news from my test results! Just over a year since my stem cell transplant, I'm still cancer free which is pretty good. Not so good is the fact that my bones are still achey which apparently could be a sign of an 'autoimmune condition'.  Yes, I know I sound like a 'House' episode and should be argued between Dr House and Dr Foreman but this is yet another turn in the road of my medical odyssey. The joint paint needs some form of explanation.

Now that it's February, I can approach this new year with renewed vigour and zest. I hate January anyway, it should be erased and February be the new year.

Anyway, I'm off to be like a dormouse. Will try not to snore too much. But hope to gain inspiration.
